The 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals the Saudi public places a high level of trust in the Kingdom’s government and business sector as the country pursues its innovation journey towards Vision 2030. A large majority of Saudis also trust both government leaders and scientists to manage innovation effectively.
Saudi Arabia stands out as a global leader in trust in business, with a notable number of respondents expressing strong confidence in this institution. Additionally, a substantial portion of Saudis place significant trust in government leaders (highest globally at 86%) and scientists, viewing them as key partners in managing and regulating innovation.
Saudi Arabia has the highest global level of trust in the government, with 86% of respondents expressing confidence. Additionally, 78% of Saudis show strong trust in businesses. The majority also place their trust in government leaders and scientists to effectively manage innovation.
In Saudi Arabia, there is significant trust in technology and AI, with confidence in AI regulation exceeding the global average. Companies operating in Virtual/Augmented Reality enjoy a 68% trust level, well above the 50% global average.
Over 80% of Saudis trust government leaders and scientists to effectively manage and regulate innovation, highlighting the critical partnership between the government, business, and the scientific community in fostering innovation within the Kingdom.
Technological innovations enjoying the most enthusiasm and acceptance amongst Saudi respondents are green energy and AI. Among countries surveys, Saudi Arabia respondents reported a top 3 level of confidence that AI is effectively regulated, at 56%.
